Before the pandemic hit the world in 2020 I was going through some mental issues, I still am, during this time one of my good friends ‘dragged’ me along to a couple of Hastings United matches, I was raised as a Chelsea fan by my dad but I never felt connected to football nor Chelsea.
While at my second match I made a few new friends, new friends who made me feel welcome and gave me a good laugh when we were there.
I was sitting at home during lockdown 2.0 (November 2020) and had an urge to design a Hastings United website, I in no way thought Hastings United would be interested in the site, but the Hastings United Independent Supporters Club were interested in the site but wanted to know if I could add a few more features, this began a long road to learning about rapid api and how to work it within wordpress, I make it sound bad but it wasn’t I loved every minute of it.
Then a post from Billy Wood at Hastings United is posted, they want someone to manage their website and make it work like the supporters club, showing updated scores and tables along with full content for the other teams (womens, development and U18’s). I applied within a heart beat, the opportunity to not only build a website for a big organisation, but for it to be for what had become my team.
2 months later we have a fully working site, ready for the new 2021/2022 season and the remainder of the womans 2020/2021 season.
I am still working on the history side of stuff along with trying to get more photo’s sorted, but for a portfolio it remains my prize piece, I am so happy with it.
